Online seminar (german) to get started with climate adaptation on 10.9. & 03.12.25

When I specialised in climate adaptation during my studies in 2011, it was simply pure interest and curiosity as to how public spaces can be made climate-resilient for people. Microclimate simulations were my favourite tool for this. The timing was perfect, because since then the topic has received an incredible boost. Fortunately!

In order to be able to do something for society, I then chose the path into public service. First to the City of Munich and then to Regensburg as a climate resilience manager. For 10 years, I was able to gain practical experience of how to establish climate resilience in the administration.

If only I had known then what I know now! That would have made my job so much easier at times. And yet, of course, it remains a challenge to get such a process going. As always, in fact, when you want to initiate change in established structures.

We now have more and more climate adaptation managers in Germany and many municipalities are (finally) tackling the issue proactively. The new Federal Climate Change Adaptation Act now clearly obliges them to do so. I'm sure most people feel like I did back then: overwhelmed about where and how to start, how to get your foot in the door with specialist offices, organisations and colleagues, what to focus on and how to communicate with the outside world, both in the press and in politics. So many questions to deal with.

In order to bring more clarity and strength to individual processes and to make it easier to get started with climate adaptation, I have developed a comprehensive online seminar that incorporates my experience of the last 14 years. The seminar is not only suitable for beginners, but also for the more established who want to drive climate resilience forward in municipalities. I not only impart theoretical knowledge about climate adaptation, but it is a ‘hands-on seminar’ in which we develop individual practical approaches with which everyone can go straight into implementation after the seminar.

The seminar will take place online and in german on two dates this year: 10.9.25 and 3.12.25. It can be booked via the Umweltinstitut at the following link: https://www.umweltinstitut.de/Liste/19/Naturschutz/627/KomKlima.html

I look forward to registrations and a lively exchange in the seminar with great results!

And please send me your questions and discussion topics to be dealt with in the seminar!

Thank you!
